Sydney Post Mortem: Day 5 & 6

October 11, 2008

Ok just to clear up the apparent confusion, I’m am currently in *in slow motion* KOO-WA-LA LOOM-PURR.

In the months of late July & early August, I was in *in slow motion* SEEEED-NIIII, OSS-TRAYY-LIAAA.

In late September, I was in *in slow motion* LONN-DUNN, YEWWW-KAYYYY.

So again, right now… I repeat RIGHT NOW… I am in *in slow motion* KOO-WA-LA LOOOOM-PURRR.

Kapiche?

Good.

So over the course of the next few weeks, you’ll probably be reading the post mortems of my trip to Sydney in July & August.

And after that, I will be updating on my trip to London in September.

But IN BETWEEN, I will blog about my life in Kuala Lumpur.

DOOO-YEWWWW-UN-DER-STAND-ZE-WORDSSS-THAT-ARRRR-CO-MING-OUT-OF-MY-MOUTHH?

Good.

(I’m sucha bitch) :)

So, Sydney!

Day 5: The Bakery Cafe, Onboard the Sydney Ferries, Taronga Park Zoo, Taronga Park Zoo wharf, Chinatown Nightmarket, Mother Chu’s Taiwanese Cuisine

Woke up bright and early for our usual breakfast at usual spot, the Bakery Cafe, eating the usual bacon & eggs on toast.

…With the usual usual cuppa flat white

My favorite “look elsewhere” pose. Now I must make sure I always have my sunnies with me (or alternatively, make sure the ppl I hang out with ALWAYS have their sunnies)

IMG_0701

With my older sister (she DID NOT force me to say this, and is currently NOT breathing down my neck to make sure I type the word “sister”, and am currently NOT getting whacked for saying she DID NOT force me in an apparently sarcastic manner)

We took out time enjoying our breakfast, which was basically our favorite part of the day because it was just so relaxing, plus the food was good and the waiters there all like to engage in small talks… so nice and “neighborly” :)

Next itenary on our agenda was to visit the famous Taronga Park Zoo and the only way (I believe) to access the zoo was to take a ferry from Circular Quay to the Taronga Park Zoo wharf.

IMG_0721

It was an awesome-possum day to visit the zoo. Note the blue skies and sun shine!

IMG_0730

Oh and apart from liking the warm, tingly feeling on my skin… I also like the sun because it provides GREAT NATURAL lighting for snapping pictures!

From the Taronga Park Zoo wharf, you can either take a short walk, or a bus (sorry I can’t recall the bus number) to the Taronga Park Zoo entrance.

Do take a walk if you have the time because on a sunny day, you’ll get pretty nice views along the way.

Anyway, the following pictures are my favorites taken at the zoo itself…

IMG_0740

At the Taronga Park Zoo. The Zoo is pretty big, so don’t forget to grab yourself a free map at the entrance!

IMG_0745

The birds enjoying the sun and water

IMG_0751

Sunbathing lol

IMG_0756

I forgot what this bird is (it’s NOT an emu). So I’m gonna give a dumb blonde answer… THIS, my friend… is a pretty big bird.

IMG_0764

Tasmanian devil. It’s dead and very well preserved

IMG_0770

I forgot what they’re called, but they are SOOO cute. Especially when they walk!… And no, they are NOT porcupines

IMG_0782

The mighty big komodo dragon

IMG_0784

A mighty cute chameleon. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that the chameleon is the only animal in this world whose eyes can look at two different directions at a time. Chun boh????

IMG_0789

Water snakes for you :)

IMG_0793

A mata-mata. Its a kind of tortoise

IMG_0804

This, my dear readers… is a GILA MONSTER. No, I’m serious! (picture below)

IMG_0803

See, I told you…

Whilst we were at the reptile section, we were lucky enough to witness a snake eating a white rat!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeayyyy!!!!!!!!

IMG_0823

Obviously a male rat… lol!

IMG_0830

10 minutes later

IMG_0834

20 minutes later

IMG_0842

Half an hour later and it was… BYE BYE RAT lol

I hope no animal rights activists will anti me for putting up these pictures. Let’s face it, its natural… part of an ecosystem… it happens in the wild ALL-THE-DAMN-TIME. Plus, its educational!!

If it promotes some sorta cruelty, surely the zookeepers wouldn’t make the feeding time so public?

If anything, I feel more for the snake than for the rat. It probably took the snake almost an hour to eat its meal (I only started taking the pictures halfway).

And it wasn’t easy… it’s face had to be stretched beyond recognition hor… AND it was writhing and squirming, so the muscles could push the big fat rat down slowly. NOT EASY!!

If I’m parseltongued, I swear I’d probably hear it scream “DAMN YOU BIG RAT WITH HUMONGOUS BALLS! GET IN ALREADY!!

Anyway, yeah that was certainly an experience… :)

IMG_0865

Somehow the giraffes reminded me of the cartoon “Madagascar” lol

IMG_0867

A giraffe, enjoying the city skyline view

IMG_0875

This was where the chimps live. But when my mum decided to take this picture of me (with the chimps in it), they all decided to shoot out of sight -_-”

IMG_0884

Creatures with big horn… forget what they’re called

IMG_0898

Here’s me trying to fit in with the zebras lol

IMG_0918

With the peacocks in the background

IMG_0925

I laughed hard when I saw this. Obviously the baby monkey is sucking at the wrong “nen nen” lol

IMG_0943

With the beautiful view of the city

IMG_0953

The majestic snow leopard

We literally spent the whole day there because when we left, it was near closing time for the zoo. Hehe, fun day indeed!

I felt like a kid again… and the zoo here is SOOO much better than our Zoo Negara.

So well maintained and so clean and the animals actually look healthy and alive… lol

Pictures whilst waiting for the ferry to head back to Circular Quay…

My ham sap face

IMG_0968

Gorgeous sunset

IMG_0959

Trying to act “chio” (Xia Xue, 2008)

When we arrived back at Circular Quay, we took a bus to Chinatown because we fancied some Chinese food… OK, more like I fancied Chinese food.

Mana tauuuuuuu, when we arrived at Chinatown, it was NIGHT MARKET night!!!! Yeayyyyy!!!!

IMG_0978

Mum, buying more socks because she brought only one pair

IMG_0980

They had satay!!!

IMG_0998

The restaurant “Mamak” always sets up a stall at the night market and they make roti canai on the spot!!! So happeeee!

IMG_1004

And then we had Mother Chu’s popular minced meat porridge!!!

It was a great day indeed because for one thing, I visited the Australian zoo… a MUST DO when you’re down under.

And PLUS, I visited the night market in Chinatown!! Woo hoo!!

Oh and I don’t have the time nor the patience to do Day 6 at the moment.

Mid term’s next week. I/O Psych assignment’s due next week. Health Psych proposal due next week. Career guidance cover letter due next week. Everything next week.

SIOW MEH????!!!!

Love,

NatC.
